The short version
- Use Phone Escape to cut back with friends, and be decent to them.
- Nothing abusive, hateful, sexual or threatening in a pledge's title, your name or an ask's note. We don't tolerate it.
- Report anything that crosses the line. We look within a day, remove what breaks these rules, and remove anyone who keeps breaking them.
- Phone Escape is a tool, not treatment, and it comes with no guarantees.
Who can use it
You need to be 13 or older. Using Phone Escape means you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
What you write
Others in your pledge see its title, your first name and any note you add when you ask for minutes. You're responsible for what you write. Never write:
- slurs or hate against anyone, for who they are
- harassment, bullying or threats
- sexual content
- anything illegal, or anything pretending to be someone else
A filter refuses the worst words, but it can't catch everything, so it's on all of us. There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive people.
Reporting and blocking
The … beside a name or an ask lets you report what was written, or block the person. A report reaches us straight away, with the words reported. We look at every report within a day, and we can delete what was written, take someone out of a pledge, or delete their account. Blocking someone hides their asks from you, and they aren't told.
Your phone and your limits
- Phone Escape blocks only the apps you choose. It never blocks phone calls, and it can always be switched off in your phone's settings.
- You can leave a pledge at any time. Your limits stay on for 24 hours after you leave, or until the pledge ends if that's sooner, and you agree to that when you start or join one.
- Deleting the app removes its limits.
Not medical advice
Phone Escape helps you open apps on purpose. It isn't treatment for addiction or for any condition. If you're struggling, please talk to a professional.
No guarantees
Phone Escape is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and accurate, but we can't promise it always will be. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for losses from using it, or from not being able to.
Stopping
You can stop using Phone Escape whenever you like, and delete your data in the app's settings. We may stop offering it, or remove anyone who breaks these terms.
Changes
If we change these terms, this page changes first and the date at the top moves. Using the app after that means you accept them.
